Outdoor Living Spaces Designed for Cottonwood, AZ, Homes

You already know which part of your backyard you wish you used more. Maybe it's the patio that becomes uncomfortable once the afternoon sun reaches it, the open area you've always pictured turning into a place to entertain, or the spot with a great view but not enough shade to sit and enjoy it for long.

StruXure Southwest helps Cottonwood, Arizona, homeowners create outdoor living spaces around those opportunities. With adjustable StruXure louvered roofs, motorized screens, and custom decks, we can help turn an underused backyard into a more comfortable place for dinners, conversations, quiet mornings, and everything else you would rather be doing outside.

Designing for Outdoor Living in Cottonwood

Cottonwood's Verde Valley setting gives homeowners plenty of reasons to spend time outside. But creating a space you'll use consistently takes more than placing furniture on a patio.

Shade matters when the sun is overhead. Airflow matters when conditions are comfortable enough to leave the space open. And when you're investing in a larger backyard project, the layout should make sense for how you actually live.

That's where adjustable coverage becomes useful. Rather than committing to a permanently open pergola or a fixed roof, a louvered system lets you change the environment below it. You can open the roof for sunlight and fresh air, reposition the louvers for shade, or close them when you want additional overhead coverage.

Build Your Outdoor Space Around the Right System

No single configuration works for every backyard. The right starting point depends on what you already have and what you want the finished space to become.

Pergola X: Adjustable Louvered Roof for Your Patio

Pergola X is StruXure's adjustable louvered roof system and can be incorporated as an attached or freestanding structure.

That flexibility makes Pergola X worth considering when you already have a patio or gathering area you enjoy but want more control over its comfort. Adjustable louvers let you balance sunlight, shade, airflow, and overhead coverage instead of designing the space around one permanent roof position.

Cabana X: Create a Backyard Destination

Cabana X takes a different approach. Its freestanding design can establish a dedicated destination within the backyard rather than simply adding coverage to an existing patio.

That could mean creating a separate area for conversation, dining, relaxing, or enjoying the surroundings. For properties with enough outdoor space to create distinct areas, Cabana X offers another way to think about backyard layout.

Motorized Screens: Add Privacy and Comfort

Sometimes overhead coverage solves only part of the problem. Motorized screens add privacy, shade, insect protection, and wind control, then retract when you want to open the space again.

That adds another layer of flexibility without permanently closing off the outdoor space.

Custom Decks: Start From the Ground Up

If your project needs more than coverage, deck design and installation can create the foundation for a larger outdoor living plan.

A custom deck can establish space for dining, seating, and entertaining while helping define how different areas of the backyard connect. For a more comprehensive project, consider the deck and overhead structure together rather than as unrelated additions.

One Team for Your Outdoor Living Project

The individual products matter, but so does how everything comes together. StruXure Southwest is a StruXure Partner Company and a family-owned, locally operated business. We don't use subcontractors, keeping installation in-house and providing one consistent point of accountability throughout the project.

StruXure Southwest was founded in 2025 as a sister company to Erdmann Outdoor Living, which was founded in 1982. That relationship connects our specialized StruXure operation with an established outdoor living business. Upgrade also offers financing for homeowners interested in payment options for their project.
